The new year is with us and we send greetings to all our readers. Even in January there is plenty of outdoor colour. At present we are locked down like everyone else here. We only travel through the countryside for essential supplies and to post things to people. Even so it’s great to watch it change from week to week.

We can walk in the lanes and fields around the studio though, so lovely, and my thoughts nearly two years ago still ring true.

The rapidly changing countryside has set me thinking about green colours and how to use them in paintings.

The fields in our area and near our studio are always a patchwork of colours
and in spring, the ploughed ones gradually turn from red and brown to fresh green.
Winter crops and grazing fields are different colours.

The woods are all different colours with some deciduous and some evergreen.

Even on a dull day, it’s a treat to look out the window, and every errand takes us through changing views.

All these greens are inspiring, not only for landscapes but for all sorts of subjects and they have inspired an article all about mixing non-standard greens.
It shows the different colours you can use to make green and why you might want to use mixes in your paintings.

You can read the article here >> Article About Greens

While you’re there, don’t forget to take a look at ‘Articles’.
There you’ll find Guides, Tutorials and Inspiration –
There are just a few right now but I do have more on the way, half done,
So it’s growing slowly.

You might begin to hear from us more regularly in future. I hope so because we aimed to set things up so that the latest articles can be sent regularly. I think about once a month is obviously too ambitious a target – we haven’t hit anywhere near that!
Originally, it was planned that they may be signed by Amy, my occasional virtual helper and she does still write the odd thing now and then.

If I have something to add I will send it separately in another email.
Don’t worry, I won’t be swamping you – You have already seen how infrequently I send.
In fact, I can’t promise that you will get an email every month – it depends on whether I have published an article meanwhile.

The news has been Very occasional – you may have forgotten all about it.
I haven’t sent anything for a long time. I did want something
worthwhile to show you, and making articles takes much longer than I expected.
The biggest hold-up is having the right pictures for them.
I think I have them, but then I find they’re not quite right and have to do them again.

See what you think! You can read the ‘greens’ article here >>
